Synthesis and Transformation sentences are important skills to acquire for sentence construction and ultimately composition writing. The workshop will provide pupils with a strong foundation in the use of various connectors and key structures, with examples and illustrated explanations to aid understanding. There will be practices, serve as drills to allow students to familiarise themselves with the different sentence structure.

1-day English Composition Workshop (For P3 and P4)

Time : 9am – 11am

Class size: 6 students

 
This workshop will teach students the basics on how to write a composition and what are the important things to take note of. A good story should have:
1. A good beginning
2. A good plot (main event, climax)
3. A great ending (conclusion, description of feelings)

Students will learn to develop characters and plots. Students will learn new vocabulary and phrases, which will increase their writing capabilities.

Learning English language through news and articles is an effective way to hold students’ attention while significantly improving their English skills. The ability to do well in cloze passages is closely linked to one’s reading comprehension skills, vocabulary and general knowledge. Students need to understand the context of the given passages and be able to gather contextual clues that will help them fill in the missing words.

Having a wide range of vocabulary and knowledge of a variety of topics will thus help students tackle cloze passages with ease and confidence. Through this workshop, students will be exposed to important everyday vocabulary, sentence structure and can help them know what’s going on in their world!

Strategies of Effective Composition Writing

Students will be introduced to specific winning formulas that will help them to write effective compositions to achieve maximum grades. They will learn how to write attention grabbing introductions; power pact paragraphs and impressive conclusions. Students utilizing these strategies are guaranteed to achieve top grades with consistent practice.

Students will be introduced to specific skills in identifying the different question formats; understanding the specific answers required; reading passages for content knowledge; using the journalistic approach in dissecting the given passage; identifying key terms; summarising key components in each paragraph and answering the questions completely and correctly.
